MAC Fabby Lipstick - Review and Swatches

MAC Fabby Lipstick

I have a fetish for the color pink. This color is so versatile that it can suit almost any skin tone and can be worn at any time of the day. So for the love of pink, here is a review on MAC Fabby lipstick.

Description

Delivers excellent color payoff with medium to high frosted shimmer and shine finish.

MAC Fabby Lipstick

My Opinion

MAC Fabby lipstick is a cross between pink and mauve with a tinge of pale gold shimmer. With a frost finish, this product like almost all MAC lipsticks is vanilla scented and taste-free. It is easy to apply - more so if you use a lip brush and goes on smoothly leaving a nice shimmer-sheen after application.

MAC Fabby Lipstick - Swatch

The color is soft and almost a nude pink but is a little on the paler side which makes it more suitable for people with fair complexions. I have a medium skin tone and during the days that I get even a light tan, this lipstick enhances rather than diffuses my tan and makes my skin look washed out, pale and dull.

How this lipstick looks on you also has a lot to do with how pigmented your lips are. If you are one of those who are blessed with healthy, naturally pink and pigment-free lips, then chances are that this pinky mauve lip shade will suit you. If your lips are pigmented, then this product is not the right choice for you as its formula is not thick enough to camouflage discolorations.

I also find this lipstick uncomfortable to wear because it dries out my lips. Within an hour after application, my lips start feeling rubbery, dry and tight. I always apply lip balm before putting on lipstick but even this does not help with the dryness. If you usually have dry and cracked lips then I would recommend that you stay clear of this product as it tends to worsen the situation. If you want to counter the drying effect, try wearing a little lip gloss only in the centre of your lips. It not only keeps lips moisturized but also makes them look pouty.

This product’s wear time lasts an average of 2 to 3 hours after which it starts lightening. If you are planning to eat something during that time then expect a wear time of even less and an unavoidable touch up.

Hit or miss? A miss!

Priced at PKR 2,500 ($ 26), Fabby looks great with a smokey eye but is not a color that is for every skin tone. This pricey lipstick has a short wear time of around two (02) hours, a drying formula and average pigmentation.

If you are interested in purchasing it, it is available at Ebco – The Forum in Karachi, Pakistan. For those of you living outside Pakistan, you can order it online from www.maccosmetics.co.uk and http://shop.nordstrom.com.

Go for it if you:
  1. Have naturally pink and pigment-free lips
  2. Have a fair skin tone
  3. Prefer a frost finish
  4. Don’t mind the hefty price tag

Don’t go for it if you:
  1. Have a medium or tan skin tone
  2. Are not a fan of lipsticks with a shimmer finish
  3. Prefer lip products with a moisturizing formula
  4. Are looking for a long wearing lipstick
